A personal trainer NYC can be a valuable asset.

A personal trainer NYC can even be considered a treasure along your fitness and weight loss journey but choosing the wrong one can set you off on a permanent hiatus from exercise and eating healthy.

When you think about the idea that the closest people around you can influence your attitude and view of the world you can easily understand how crucial it is to choose from one a pool of the best NYC personal trainers available for you to hire and join you on this important path that you’ve just decided to take.

I am going to cover the 5 major disastrous mistakes most personal trainers make when training a curvy girl so you can quickly identify the right personal trainer to hire or even let go of the wrong personal trainer NYC so you can move forward on your way to success.

Your goals are really important. Don’t think otherwise. And a personal trainer NYC really needs to get that.

Your hard-earned money is yours and you have the right to find the perfect personal trainer NYC who will make this really challenging process as worthwhile as it can be for you. And who also can create a specialized personal training New York program based on your needs and goals.

You are definitely worth it, Curvy Girl!

One more thing that I want to mention before I cover the 5 major disastrous mistakes a personal trainer NYC can make is that I’ve been on both sides of the client/trainer relationship.

I’ve been a client and I’ve been a personal trainer NYC for over 14 years right now. As a client along with being a curvy girl I really saw loads of craziness when it comes to questionable professionalism, competency, and compassion in the personal training industry.

I’ve gone through over 20 personal trainers learning what to do and definitely what not to do especially when it comes to dealing with a plus size woman. Although it was an extremely frustrating process and very disheartening I had no idea at the time that it was going to become a certified personal trainer NYC myself and create a fire in me to help me create programs and services for curvy women.

From my horrible and sometimes traumatic experiences with other physical trainers NYC I created a business from my desire and heart that would solve many problems for you, Curvy Girl!

Now on the other side as a personal trainer NYC, I have been a personal trainer NYC for over 14 years now and that unique combination of being a curvy girl and training all kinds of clients does give me an extra layer of knowledge that a personal trainer NYC can’t really pick up from reading a fitness manual or even acquire after a few years of personal training New York out in the field.

So now let’s get back to the task at hand and that is for me to share with you the 5 biggest mistakes a personal trainer NYC can make while training curvy girls!

Personal Trainer NYC Mistake #1

Look at me, Look at me, Look at my hot rockin’ body…Oh yeah, I forgot. You’re here and I’m supposed to be training you right now.

Yes Girl. Don’t you feel invisible sometimes while your personal trainer NYC is taking a lovingly gaze at himself while you’re stumbling through your squat thrusts and lunges?

Didn’t you hire a personal trainer NYC in the first place because you were sick and tired of always feeling invisible and feeling badly about your body and you needed help from someone who would give a cr*p?!

Ah yes, that Ego is one ugly, annoying devil. And hopefully it can be exorcised from your trainer’s body or you’ll just have to go somewhere else for better treatment.

Personal Trainer NYC Mistake #2

That personal trainer NYC assumes that all curvy girls want to be skinny.

This has happened to me many times. I go and hire a personal trainer NYC and he has it in his head that he’s going to mold me into a size 2 Playboy Bunny.

And there is no getting through to his thick skull that I desire something else. That sexy and fit to me and for me is healthy with curves. So when this happens that is a big red flag that there’s no listening going on so I will have to find someone else who will listen to my desires and needs.

Most of the times bootcamp style doesn’t work too well

Personal Trainer NYC Mistake #3

They create a bootcamp-like training program for the Curvy Girl

This is kind of connected to Mistake #2. The personal trainer NYC is convinced that you want what he wants for you and so to get the best results really fast he’s going to put you through a grueling bootcamp regimen 5 days a week.

Hup, two, three, four!

A prime example routine would be what you see on really popular weight loss reality shows where the personal trainers New York are forcing their clients to sprint up hills and carry a gigantic tire on their backs.

But really…it could just be lifting heavy weights that are way too heavy for you and doing military-style push-ups when you’re not ready.

It’s all about progression curvy girl. Your “challenging workout” may not be the same for another person and he’s got to really get that.

Personal Trainer NYC Mistake #4

They are not sensitive to how the Curvy Girl feels in a gym-like setting.

I understand how that may happen. I have been a personal trainer for 14 years and so I’ve been in a gym for that long. I feel like it’s my second home.

But honestly, that’s not normal. Most people don’t really go to gyms every single day or for most of the week for even a full year let alone 14 years. I’m used to seeing people half-naked being physical, grunting on the gym floor.

But for the curvy girl she may be very apprehensive and may even be nervous and scared walking into the gym for the first time asking for help and she doesn’t know what to expect. I think a personal trainer NYC has a responsibility to acknowledge how she feels.

I think it shows how considerate, compassionate, and empathetic the personal trainer NYC is. Because it really is all about her. Create that space having her know this.

Personal Trainer NYC Mistake #5

They are more focused on results rather than focused on creating a better, more positive process and journey for the Curvy Girl.

Okay. I get it. Everybody wants to see results. But let’s be realistic. It’s not an overnight experience. So why not make the most of it and really embrace the journey rather than have a personal trainer obsess how much you ate, when you ate, how many times you ate, and how many carbs, fats, proteins, and calories you consumed for the day, and how much you weigh?

Keeping track of your progress can help motivate and inspire you but there’s a line to Obsession World that you don’t want to cross and your personal trainer NYC shouldn’t either.

Let’s see that fitness is a powerful tool for health, strength, and a pathway for growth and confidence.

  • Hey Shanon love the blog! you have definitely insrpied me to want to cook. I was just wondering if you had more of a personal blog? would love to know more about u!

  • I can understand ” gymtimidation”. Especially as a newbie. WhenI first started out, i stayed away from the free weight area. That’s where all the roided out muscleheads were. I was afraid of getting laughed at, teased. I didn’t know jack.
I’ve been a trainer for over a decade. You have to know your client and what motivates them. As much as everyone one says “I want/need to lose weight”, everyone wants to look and feel better. It’s up to us as trainers to make that happen.

  • Since signing up for the digital program its been very helpful and a great reminder with the check in! Diane has a really great support system and love the video exercises that are doable. I used to go to a gym 4 to 5 times a week and challenged myself to 6 weeks and I made it however, I stopped when I became under the weather which knocked me off track. I learned of this program from a buddy and I appreciate her for telling me about it because I am at the age where pounds are not that east to shed away as as they used to shed away.

I really appreciate the encouragement, knowledge and wisdom Diane offers and shares with us and though I can admit I do not achieve my challenge daily, with the check in and encouragement also the video’s and other good information in this program you are sure to try it and get on board with your challenge at some point or other.

I appreciate the consistency of Diane and the level of care this program has to offer and want to say THANK YOU! Keep up the great work! This is truly an awesome and positive way to live a healthier life.

    Sincerely,
    TyLeishia

  • Thank you for the words of encouragement. As I continue on my weight reduction journey, my goals are very much in line with.yours. I too struggle with weight maintenance. Previous weight loss surgery (13 yrs ago) was good to me; however, reaching 49 as my body cycles and my scale approaches 240, I am somewhat despaired. I walk 10 plus miles a week and read every label.I.touch in a grocery store, but I cannot conquer. My average is 14/16 in size which.I am.ok with, it works for me but I’m currently in a 18 which presses my threshold. Your email with video was “perfect timing” if you will as I was praying for the correct solution for Kim. Thank you for your creative thought/mindset as there are plenty of us struggling and I look forward to our future encounters. Kim

    • Hi Kim,

What an amazingly thoughtful comment! Thank you for taking the time to comment and to write to me. I appreciate it.

Yes. It’s so true that most of us don’t really want to be “skinny”. Or at least our “skinny” is not the “skinny” that many think.

I have a question for you. I noticed that you walk and I’m assuming that it’s the major part of your workout. Have you ever thought of making resistance training your main workout regimen? It will surprise you! <3
