NYC Personal Trainer for Plus Size Women Recommends Exercise

Being a certified personal trainer in NYC for close to 20 years, I am in the fitness world, so my perspective is skewed a little bit.

How can anyone not exercise? It gives you so many benefits that diet can’t give to you.

I think a lot of women are too focused on weight loss and their mantra is 80% diet and 20% exercise.

I am always rolling my eyes with this one.

Well, getting to your goal weight is no good if you’ve got brittle bones, a severe hump on your back or a back injury.

All of these things can be avoided with exercise, in particular, resistance training.

A former client of mine was too focused on weight loss, but she didn’t even have the strength to walk faster than 1.4 mph on the treadmill, was bent over to an extreme where her sightline was down on the floor.

I had to do a lot of work with her to get to average strength and work on her posture and core.

But she just couldn’t lay off the pressure for me to make her lose weight.

Losing weight was the last on the list.

This is a very extreme case.

But I wanted to point out that weight loss, while sacrificing strength, flexibility, and agility is not worth it.

Do something every single day so you can build strength and endurance which will give you confidence.

Anyone can exercise.

Yes. Anyone. Can. Do. This.

If this is the morning, restate your 3 habits and if you want to respond to the above content, then do so.

If this is the evening check-in, share how you did today and what you can do to make it better the next time. Share one thing that you’re grateful for.
