How My NYC Personal Training Approach Is Different (and Kinder)
So let’s get one thing straight. I don’t train people like the average personal trainer in NYC. You know the type: the bootcamp yeller, the kale evangelist, the “just push harder!” guy who’s never had a carb in his life. Yeah… no.
Curvy Goddess Workout was built for women who are tired of that energy. I wanted to create a space where plus size women could come together, learn, laugh, and finally feel supported on their fitness journey, not judged or lectured.
Because here’s the truth: fitness isn’t supposed to feel like punishment. You deserve workouts that meet you where you are, coaches who listen to your body as much as they challenge it, and an environment that feels like a sisterhood, not a battlefield.
Over my 26 years as a certified personal trainer, I’ve worked with everyone; CEOs, moms, athletes, kids, you name it. But after about a decade, I realized something: plus size women were being completely misunderstood by the fitness industry. Trainers didn’t know how to coach them, and worse, they didn’t even realize they were doing harm.
I had a knack for it, for understanding how to modify workouts without watering them down, how to build strength without shame, how to help women feel proud of what their bodies can do today.
Meanwhile, some of my colleagues? A total mess. And bless their hearts, they didn’t even know it. They’d give cookie-cutter workouts to clients with knee issues, or talk about “burning off calories” like it was a moral obligation. Nope. Not in my studio.
My approach is kinder, smarter, and built for you. We train for strength, confidence, and longevity, not punishment. Because your body deserves better than that.

Here’s what makes my approach different: I don’t just teach fitness. I’ve lived the whole messy, emotional, hilarious rollercoaster that comes with it.
I’ve been a personal trainer in NYC for over 26 years which, let’s be honest, is no small feat in a city where there’s a new fitness trend every six minutes. (If I had a dollar for every “miracle method” I’ve seen come and go, I’d have my own line of sequined dumbbells by now.)
But here’s the truth: my real education didn’t come from textbooks or certifications. It came from years of battling my own weight, trying every diet that promised to “fix” me, and learning the hard way what actually works and what just messes with your head.
So when I say I understand what you’re going through, I mean it. I’ve been the woman counting calories, crying over the scale, and still showing up the next day because deep down I knew I was meant for more.
That’s what I bring to the table, the professional knowledge of someone who’s trained thousands of women and the lived experience of someone who knows exactly how it feels to start again (and again).
I believe every plus size woman deserves to feel strong, confident, and beautiful, not “someday,” not “after,” but right now.

As a plus size personal trainer in NYC, I’ve seen the fitness world from every angle and let me tell you, it’s overdue for a heart transplant. Too many trainers push pain instead of progress. Too many programs sell shame disguised as “discipline.” Not here.
At Curvy Goddess Workout, we do it differently. I believe every woman, no matter her size, shape, or starting point, deserves to feel strong, beautiful, and proud of herself right now, not “after the weight is gone.”
